CITY BREAK IN THE CHARMING BUCHAREST

Breakfast at the hotel. We begin the tour with the visit of the Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world, symbol of the communist megalomania. We will see 1% of the more than 1000 rooms of the Parliament Palace. We continue with the Patriarchate, the siege of the head of the Orthodox Church. Free time for lunch after which we visit the Old City and have some time for shopping. We continue our visit by bus and arrive in the north part of Bucharest where we are going to admire the rural architecture of the open air Village Museum.

After breakfast, we visit the Mogosoaia Palace, built in 1702 by the Prince of Wallachia, Constantin Brancoveanu in Romanian Brancovean style of exposed bricks, round arches and with Venetian style insertions. We admire also the Mogosoaia Lake, nowadays a location for high end villas. We continue the visit with Snagov Monastery, built on an island of Snagov lake. During the centuries it was a prison for traitors, an escape hideaway for revolutionaries’ man, a center for printing books in medieval times, a monastery for nuns. The most exciting fact about the Monastery is the rumor of Vlad the Impaler – Dracula, being buried inside the church. Return to Bucharest.

Breakfast in the hotel. Depending on the flight schedule, free time, optional visit at the Spring Palace, the private residence of Nicolae Ceausescu, the communist dictator, or direct transfer at the airport.
